Closures and/or Delayed Openings |
In case of inclement weather, snow closure and/or delayed opening, information will be made available by 6:30 a.m. on Oak Lane's website, our voice mail system (610-825-1055), television (KYW Channel 3, Channel 6 Action News, and NBC 10), radio (KYW 1060 AM) and KYW website (www.kyw1060.com). Our KYW closing number is 3120 under the Montgomery County listings. Snow closure decisions are generally made before 6:30 a.m. Oak Lane does not use a calling system to alert parents when there are snow days or late openings. |

Closures During the School Day |
If a snowstorm develops during the school day and makes driving conditions dangerous, we will contact parents and/or guardians, and close early. Some districts may also make a decision on their own to pick up bus students early, and we often have little warning when this is about to occur. We will never send a student home without contacting the family by phone first. Please be sure that your emergency contact numbers are current. If your child does not have bus transportation, parents must make arrangements for him or her to be picked up by the time school closes. |

Transportation Concerns |
If your child rides a school bus to Oak Lane, listen for information regarding transportation in your district. It may be possible that Oak Lane is open, but your own district is closed or not offering transportation. Or, it could be that Oak Lane is closed, while your own district is open. In general, Oak Lane's neighborhood has worse snow conditions than Philadelphia, but milder snow conditions than areas west. |
