Consider these ways to make a gift to Oak Lane with a lasting legacy:
| Bequests |
A
bequest is a donation of cash, personal property, or real-estate provided
in the donor's will to a non-profit institution, and is the simplest
form of Planned Giving. This type of gift often enables individuals
to make significant gifts that might not have been possible during
their lifetime. It involves no immediate loss of capital or income,
and tax benefits minimize the ultimate cost to one's heirs. Your attorney
can help you prepare your will to include Oak Lane and choose the
best wording for your particular circumstances. |
Life
Insurance |
You
can name Oak Lane Day School as the owner and/or beneficiary of
a life insurance policy. To receive a charitable deduction, Oak
Lane must be designated as both the owner and beneficiary of the
policy. If the policy has a cash value, you can take a charitable
deduction approximately equal to the cash value at the time of the
gift. In addition, if annual premiums are still to be made and you
continue to pay them, those premiums will become tax deductible
each year. Consult with your life insurance agent for details on
which forms to complete. |
Trusts |
A trust
arrangement enables you to make a major gift to Oak Lane during your
lifetime and permits you to receive income from cash, securities or
other property involved. At the same time, you receive an immediate
charitable deduction on your income tax, and capital gain, if any,
is exempt from capital gains tax. Exact exemptions and deductions
will vary according to individual situations. |
