The Camp
at Oak Lane Day School
has a program full of imaginative, child-centered, energetic activities
with surprises around every corner. You will find a nurturing environment
that enriches, stimulates and encourages curiosity in every child, and
embraces the value of childhood.
The
campus of Oak Lane offers
a 30-acre site consisting of streams, a pond, woods, athletic fields,
play equipment, and two swimming pool facilities complete with separate
changing rooms for boys and girls. The Hankin Classroom Building has air-conditioned
rooms ("bunks") used by the campers, computers and a health
room. The Barn offers a music room, art studio, science lab and an indoor
area for drama productions. The Leah Cutler Gymnasium includes a spacious
indoor area that accommodates all-camp gatherings, and is useful during
rainy days.
Adult
counselors are paired with
junior counselors to assist the campers in various groups and activities.
Our swimming instructors are American Red Cross certified, and the adult
staff and counselors are CPR certified.

| For
3 to 5 year old children |
Each
preschool group is headed by an experienced preschool teacher, and
enjoys a daily schedule and routine specifically tailored to these
ages. Varied activities designed by the head counselor include outdoor
play, nature walks and other fun. Every day includes swimming lessons
and a visit to one of our specials (music, art, ceramics, sports
and nature). After lunch, half-day campers go home, while full-day
campers have a rest period, then a recreational swim and other activities. |
For
6 and 7 year old children |
Our 6 and 7 year
olds (kindergartners and first graders) have a similar schedule in
the morning with a visit to one of the specials (art, music, ceramics,
archery, sports and nature), swimming lessons, plus lots of fun with
their head counselor. In the afternoon, campers choose from a wide
variety of electives from kickball to creek walks to arts and crafts
with relay races, bubble blowing, ceramics, music and a recreational
swim period thrown in, too. |
For
children currently in Grades 2 to 6 |
Our oldest campers
have a day filled with choices. Every morning, campers create their
day from a menu of electives. There are always choices in sports,
nature, the art studio, and music room with an array of indoor and
outdoor activities such as archery, cooking, rocketry, origami, capture
the flag, card games, magic tricks and lots of other surprises. Some
choices are just for one day while others can last for a month. Campers
also take swimming lessons, and have the option of a recreational
swim in the afternoon. |
